Karen LaFleur Exhibition

STORY ART: The Text-Image Art of Karen LaFleur

Story Art is a retrospective exhibition of artist Karen LaFleur’s creative journey into the visual language of storytelling. Lyrically written and vividly rendered her artwork takes the audience to places in the human heart they instantly recognize but seldom articulate.

The exhibit consists of digital narrative prints with embedded micro-stories, examples of digital book art, and animation artwork, as well as working drawings, storyboards, and visual language fine art. Themes such as what constitutes love, reflections on fate, or the simple need to be recognized are rendered with candor.

Karen LaFleur has exhibited her artwork nationally including at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC, The Cape Museum of Fine Arts, MA, Union Square San Francisco, CA, Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, MA, and can be found in many public and private collections worldwide.

Please note this statement from the center: The health and safety of our staff, audiences, and artists is of the utmost importance to us at Cotuit Center for the Arts, and we are closely monitoring the evolving coronavirus/COVID-19 situation. We are receiving information from the Town of Barnstable, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the Center for Disease Control, and are taking the following precautions for your health and comfort:

We have increased all janitorial services, including the frequency and level of cleaning of the public spaces in our facilities.
All seats and armrests are being disinfected before and after every performance.
Hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed throughout our venues.
We encourage all patrons, as well as our own staff and artists, to take the standard precautions, including frequent and thorough handwashing to prevent the spread of any flu-like illness. Additional information on prevention measures can be found on the CDC website here.
We will not be serving any food that is not prepackaged at any events in the near future, including at our Wine & Music Wednesday (March 18) and opening receptions for our production of Tommy (March 19) or our Gallery Opening (March 21).
Signs regarding proper hygiene practices have been placed in all restrooms.
We recommend that anyone not feeling well stay at home. If you are not feeling well or are worried in any way about attending any programming at this time, please call our box office at 508-428-0669. We have an incredible year of performances and classes to share and would be more than happy to find an upcoming event at no charge for you to attend instead.
At this time, all Cotuit Center for the Arts events are proceeding as scheduled. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will post information on our website and social media channels should our plans change. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call the Box Office at 508-428-0669 or email jason@cotuitcenterforthearts.org.

We wish good health to you all and hope to see you at the Center!
